10 Beautiful Celebrity Portrait Paintings by Indian Artist Ramesh Baheti

Portrait Paintings: Ramesh Baheti is an Indian artist, who currently lives in Pune. Being brought up in a village, he wants to bring a piece of village life in his art. For the past 36 years, he has been creating portraits using only farm waste. It's surprising he doesn't use any color in his paintings. He burns the wheat lids to get the desired effect for his paintings. According to Ramesh Baheti, "I found out that the lids, when burned, catch fire immediately. The colour of the straws changes to brown, dark brown or black. I first sketch the outline, then slice the straws and paste them in small pieces on one large portrait. I have never used colours till date. Creating expressive eyes and varying skin tones is not an easy task. It takes a lot of concentration and patience". He has created more than 50 portraits of people and celebrities. His portraits named "Vintage Lady" and "Obama" won the first and second prize in a US based online art gallery. Portrait photography: I considered myself primarily a landscape photographer until I was introduced to studio lighting and portraiture at Photoshop World 2010. Westcott had a 'Shoot Out' booth on the Expo floor with professional lighting, sets and models. I was instantly hooked and spent hours at the booth taking hundreds of photographs. Upon returning home, I entered Westcott Flickr Photoshop World 'Shoot Out' contest and amazingly, won first place. Shortly after, a truck pulled up to my front door and delivered a bunch of lighting equipment. Luckily my husband and I had the space and I set up a small 400 sq ft studio. I can't imagine ever going back to landscapes!
