Stone paintings: Roberto Rizzo is an Italian artist who currently lives and works from Rome. He started his stone paintings from 1996 and his favourite subjects are animals. Apart from animals, he also paints birds, reptiles and landscapes. Roberto Rizzo completed a course in European Institute of Design in Milan and worked as an illustrator for many companies. But his true passion was stone paintings. He collects small smooth stones and turns them into animals or birds. He uses the natural stones and he doesn't polish them to cover any holes. According to Roberto's website," love rock painting for its ability to mix the old and the new (it's no accident that this fascinating technique was born in very ancient times!). Nowadays you can dress stones with very versatile new paints, which guarantee good resistance in time. In the past few years I created thousands of creatures all shapes and sizes. I don't paint only animals, but they are by far my favourite subjects, because painting them literally helps me bring inanimate mineral matter to life. All my artworks are unique, and the rocks I use are not processed at all. I always honor every hole or imperfection Nature has carried out in decades; moreover, I try to exploit it through drawing with nuances and light and shade effects". Enjoy the beautiful stone paintings by Roberto Rizzo and be inspired.
