Susanna Bauer has magic on her fingers when she finds a bunch of leaves. Her embroidery leaf art on different kinds of leaves has simply left us thinking : " Is this really possible on really dry leaves?". Dried leaves are very fragile and can easily crumble under the pinch of the fingers. The fact that she is able to embroider on these leaves is stunning in many ways. She uses magnolia leaves mostly for her creative embroidery leaf art. She works on naturally found objects like leaves, twigs, stones and more. Her embroidery leaf art is more like a mini sculpture. The idea of creating such beautiful intricate designs on leaves is quite mesmerizing. According to her biography, "There is a fine balance in my work between fragility and strength; literally, when it comes to pulling a fine thread through a brittle leaf or thin dry piece of wood, but also in a wider context - the tenderness and tension in human connections, the transient yet enduring beauty of nature that can be found in the smallest detail, vulnerability and resilience that could be transferred to nature as a whole or the stories of individual beings".
