Dutch costume designer and sculptor Suzanne Jongmans has used non-recyclable industrial waste materials like polystyrene and bubble wrap to create beautiful costumes. The designs are inspired by styles of the 15th, 16th and 17th century which has elaborate bonnets and high collared dresses. The recycled costumes have references from paintings created by artists like Rembrandt, Holbein the younger, and Rogier Van Der in her photos. Suzanne creates a connectivity between the waste products and the artistic silk or lace and the result is a beautiful renaissance costume. She first designs and creates the costumes which are then styled on the subjects and then photographed. Here are a few recycled renaissance costumes designed by Suzanne Jongmans for you to explore.
